Danny salutes the squad – and the fans – after back-to-back victories

Danny Rohl spoke of the improvement in his team, the importance of the entire squad and the energy from the fans after Anthony Musaba’s late winner lifted us off the foot of the Championship table at Stoke this afternoon.

The Owls boss saw his Wednesday team win back-to-games for the first time this season, with three of his subs combining for the winner, and he said: “Four weeks ago we might not have got a point in this game but now you can see the improvements in my team.

“And I have to thank all the bench as well today. It is not always easy to not be in the starting eleven but I told my guys that it is important we have everyone on the bench ready because they can decide the game.”

On Cameron Dawson’s second-half penalty save with the score at 0-0, he said: “Cameron was fantastic today, he saved a penalty at the right moment and that creates energy and then at the end we can score – fantastic!”

After taking seven points from the last three matches, Rohl added: “We took our first three points away, which is also a tremendous feeling, we are in a good way and we need to keep going.

“At the moment my team look outstanding and I am so proud about them in the last few weeks.”

Backed by a sellout following of 2,500 Wednesdayites, Rohl and the squad saluted the fans at the end of the game, with the manager later commenting: “Our fans are unbelievable at the moment. It is not an easy situation but the energy is great to feel on and off the pitch. You can really feel them in the stadium, that they are behind us and it is fantastic.”
