Danny on ‘big step for team’ and Bailey’s ‘special goal’

Danny Rohl says Wednesday have taken a big step forward after gathering four points from two games against leading sides in the Championship.

Speaking in the aftermath of the 3-1 victory against an in-form Blackburn side at Hillsborough this afternoon, which followed a midweek S6 draw with leaders Leicester, the Owls boss said: “This is a huge step forward for us. We have had two tough games in a week against two tough teams and I am very proud of the players.

“We played with passion and intensity which is what I want to see every game from my players. I have the fight in me to the end and my demand is for the same from everyone else.”

Rohl also had words of praise for academy product Bailey Cadamarteri, who scored his first senior goal in front of a 24,000 Hillsborough crowd, saying: “I am delighted for Bailey and pleased to have him in the group.

“He has stepped up with the first team, which is why I took him, and to see him get his goal today was special for me and special for him.”

Cadamarteri said: “It was an amazing feeling to get my first goal and then indescribable as I ran off to celebrate with a packed out Hillsborough. It’s something you dream of as a young lad.”
