Danny gives team news update ahead of West Brom clash

Danny Rohl has hinted that injuries might force a change or two in the Wednesday squad to take on West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday lunchtime.

When asked about those available for the game, Rohl confirmed Dominic Iorfa and Akin Famewo continue their progress towards full fitness but added: “There are also maybe two or three question marks, let’s see.”

On the plus-side, the Owls boss confirmed that Anthony Musaba is now fit for consideration, as is former West Brom man Nathaniel Chalobah, while Rohl will make a decision on deadline day loanee signing, Ibrahim Cissoko, after training on Friday.

Cissoko has been in training this week but has made limited appearances with his parent club, Toulouse, since picking up an injury in October.

We go into the Championship clash knowing that if we beat West Brom, who are currently in sixth place on 44 points, we will go above them by one point.

Rohl said: “It makes no sense to look too far ahead. We have three tough games in a week West Brom, Swansea and Coventry.

“We face a strong side on Saturday, we will fight for every inch and if we deserve something then we’ll get it.”

Rohl added that we have eight matches now before the next international break towards the end of March and said : “I am very positive and I know these next games before the international break will give us a clearer picture of the table. It’s about game-by-game.

“My team is ready. We have the belief, conviction, passion and togetherness … that is our mindset.”

At today’s press conference, Rohl said of new signing, Japanese defender Ryo Hatsuse: “From our first talk it was about him wanting to be a Sheffield Wednesday player. He said it was his dream to play for the club – this mindset was fantastic to see.

“He needs building to get rhythm and then he is a good option for us.”

The game at The Hawthorns kicks off at 12.30pm.
