Danny Rohl apologised to the fans after watching his Wednesday side crumble to a four-goal defeat against fellow relegation candidates Huddersfield this afternoon.
We conceded four goals in 12 second-half minutes, all of them avoidable, leaving Rohl to say: “I had the feeling at half time that we were not sharp enough. Today, everyone can be disappointed and I apologise to our fans for the result.”
The Owls lacked the battling qualities shown in the midweek goalless draw with Watford and, given the importance of this afternoon’s clash, it was a major disappointment that we failed to display the necessary drive, energy and will-to-win needed to take the three points in such a crucial match.
Rohl said: “They were very easy goals, three transition goals against us. This is not what we are doing, our defence was not good enough in this case.
“This is football, you see how close this happens after an outstanding performance against Watford and one point, to a big, big defeat today.
“It’s hard to find the right words, but first, I have to take responsibility for the defeat. It is not easy, this is football and I know it will be a challenge.
“Today, we can be disappointed but on Monday I will find the right words and we will go again.”
