Carlos keen to keep Gary at Hillsborough

Carlos Carvalhal is hoping to keep Gary Hooper at Hillsborough when his loan spell ends following Saturday’s game with Leeds.

Hooper, who looked unfit when he arrived at Wednesday from Norwich earlier in the season, has been far sharper in recent weeks and Carvalhal is clearly keen to extend his stay – either on loan or as a permanent signing.

Speaking after Hooper’s two-goal display against Bolton, Carvalhal said: “We are trying to organise our house and stay with the players we have. Our chairman is doing fantastic and working on that.

“I know Gary very well since he played at Celtic. He is doing well but I think he can do better in the future.”

Hooper has scored four goals during his loan spell but is due to return to Carrow Road on January 17.
