Stuart Gray goes into tomorow’s game at Watford knowing that anything other than defeat will only strengthen the possibility of him becoming full-time boss at Hillsborough.
Victory against Leicester last week saw Gray elevated to Milan Mandaric’s shortlist and the chairman confirmed after the Forest defeat that Gray would still be in charge at Watford.
During this week, Mandaric has scotched rumours of a move for Roy Keane and has said that he would be taking his time before making an appointment, indicating that Gray will be given more games to try to prove he is the man to take over from Dave Jones.
Wednesday will be without injured trio Lewis Buxton, Michail Antonio and Giles Coke at Watford while David Prutton has been ruled out for another three months after an operation on his ankle problem.
