Wednesday went level on points with fifth-placed Leeds after a 2-1 victory at Forest kept our play-off push firmly on track.
A cracking effort from Almen Abdi on 28 minutes and another excellent finish from Fernando Forestieri soon after half time put us in control before an error from Vincent Sasso allowed Forest to pull a goal back through Ben Osborn with half an hour remaining.
Keiren Westwood also earned the plaudits when he kept out Ross McCormack’s penalty a minute before Abdi’s opener, Westwood having been shown a yellow card for pulling down Ben Brereton in the incident which led to the spot kick.
This fourth successive win sees us remain in sixth place on 58 points but behind Leeds only on goals scored and with a game in hand on our Yorkshire rivals.
Below us, defeat for seventh-placed Norwich at Burton means we are now seven points clear of the Canaries with a game in hand.
