Young keeper to face the Gunners

Joe Wildsmith will be in goal to face Arsenal in our Capital One Cup fourth round tie at Hillsborough on Tuesday evening.

Carlos Carvalhal, who has made wholesale changes to the starting line-up in previous rounds, has confirmed that he will rest Keiren Westwood and give youngster Wildsmith another opportunity.

Carvalhal said: “I have complete confidence in Joe. When he has come into the team, he has done fantastically well.

“So Joe will play in this game against Arsenal. This is an important game and one we want to win.”

Wednesday will be without the cup-tied Fernando Forestieri and the injured quartet of Michael Turner, Marco Matias, Modou Sougou and Alex Lopez are all ruled out.

Carvalhal will also wait to see how Lucas Joao progresses after he had a tooth knocked out in the victory at Rotherham on Friday night and there are fitness concerns over Sam Hutchinson and Glenn Loovens.
