Will new signings be in the squad?

Wednesday fans will be waiting to see if any of our three deadline day signings make the squad for Saturday’s Hillsborough opener against Barnsley.

New arrivals Massimo Luongo, Jacob Murphy and David Bates all trained on Friday and Lee Bullen said he would decide after that session whether to select any of them or to leave the trio to train for another week with the squad before assessing further.

The caretaker boss said we have no added injury problems but with Keiren Westwood suspended and Joe Wildsmith (knee) still sidelined, recent signing Paul Jones will be on the bench as substitute keeper while Cameron Dawson steps up to the starting line-up.

Dominic Iorfa is also ruled out as he serves the final game of his three-match ban from last season.

After the 3-1 opening day win at Reading, Bullen may well decide to stick with the same starting line-up – Westwood aside – with a possible place on the bench for one or two of the new signings …. and all will be revealed at S6 tomorrow.
