Wilks in squad but Heneghan ruled out for Forest Green game

New signing Mallik Wilks will be in the Wednesday squad for tomorrow’s visit of promoted Forest Green Rovers to Hillsborough.

Striker Wilks became Darren Moore’s tenth summer signing this week and the Owls boss said at today’s press conference: “He has come in and has been a breath of fresh air for everybody at the club.

“He will be part of the squad for tomorrow’s game.”

However, while Wilks is in the squad, defender Ben Heneghan has become our latest injury casualty. He was substituted soon after half time in the midweek Carabao Cup win over Rochdale after suffering a hamstring strain and Moore says he could be sidelined for a few weeks.

Wednesday will make fitness decisions in the morning on Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Michael Smith. Dele-Bashiru took a knock against Rochdale and was also subbed in the second half while Smith has trained all week after his injury-hit start to life at Hillsborough.

Wednesday go into the game in fourth place, three points behind leaders Ipswich, and looking to stretch a 13-match unbeaten run at S6 in what will be a first-ever competitive meeting between the two clubs.

Forest Green sit in 20th with four points from four games and could have former Owls loanee Connor Wickham in their squad.
