Barry Bannan sits out the second match of his three-game ban when Wednesday get back into promotion-chasing action at Huddersfield on Saturday.
Carlos Carvalhal has an almost fully-fit squad to choose from after the international break but has to decide how best to compensate for the continued absence of the influential Bannan.
He selected Sam Hutchinson as the replacement in the last game at home to Charlton, while also playing two widemen in Ross Wallace and Aiden McGeady. However, after a spluttering first-half performance, Hutchinson and McGeady were replaced at half-time by Alex Lopez and Atdhe Nuhiu and we ran out 3-0 winners after a much-improved second-half display.
We go into the game in the final play-off spot, two points behind fifth-placed Derby but three ahead of Cardiff in seventh, four clear of Ipswich and six in front of Birmingham, who have a game in hand.
Middlesbrough’s win at QPR on Friday night means we are now 11 points adrift of an automatic promotion spot and that will stretch to 12 points before our kick off at Huddersfield, if Brighton beat table-topping Burnley in the lunchtime game at the Amex.
* Fernando Forestieri has won the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Month award for the second time this season, so we have collected the accolade five times during the campaign – with team-mates Ross Wallace, Lucas Joao and Gary Hooper also being honoured.
