Stuart Gray confirmed that Keiren Westwood missed the FA Cup tie at Manchester City due to injury, amidst concerns from fans that the keeper is about to leave S6.
Gray said Westwood injured a calf in training, with Chris Kirkland taking his place at the Etihad, but hopes Westwood will be fit to return in the Championship at Forest on Saturday.
The keeper’s absence led to speculation that he was left out to avoid being cup-tied, as he has been the subject of reports of interest from Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Everton, with the January transfer window now open.
