Reports are indicating that Keiren Westwood could be available to play in our game at Preston on Saturday.
Westwood was frozen out by former boss, Garry Monk, with Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith selected as our top two keepers and Westwood left training with the under-23s.
However, new manager Tony Pulis said at his press conference on Monday that he rated Westwood one of the best keepers in the Championship and wanted him back in the first team squad.
A stumbling block was that Westwood had not been registered in our 25-man squad submitted to the EFL but today’s reports are indicating that the governing body has now allowed the keeper to be added to our listing after a request from Wednesday.
If that is the case then 36-year-old Westwood is expected to be in contention for a return to the squad for the trip to Deepdale on Saturday.
