Wednesday have completed their third loan signing inside 24 hours in a surprise move for veteran striker Steve Howard.
The 36-year-old has joined us from division one Hartlepool for the rest of the season.
He made his mark at Luton Town, scoring 96 goals in 212 appearances, and then had two big-money moves, first to Derby – where he played 21 Premier League games – and then to Leicester.
Howard is one of many strikers who appear to have delighted playing against Wednesday over the years and Chris Turner was keen to sign him from Luton but the transfer failed to materialise. We were also said to be interested in signing him from Leicester in 2011.
Howard returned to his first professional club – Hartlepool – at the start of this season and has scored three goals in 34 appearances for the struggling north-easterners.
