Wednesday have been placed into administration today and received an automatic 12-point EFL deduction amidst our on-going financial issues.

Within days of reports that the club owes HMRC up to £1m, notice has now been filed with the Insolvency and Companies Court at the High Court and joint administrators appointed.

Staff at Hillsborough were informed of the situation this morning while administrators held a meeting with players.

Administration effectively sees the end of Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership after 10 years in charge of the club and reports indicate that North Stand seats spelling out his name have already been removed this afternoon, along with the model elephants at the main entrance.

We take on fellow strugglers Oxford at Hillsborough tomorrow, sitting bottom of the table and knowing the EFL deduction leaves us 15 points from safety.

The EFL added that administration gives the opportunity for a secure future for the club under new owners.
