Rock-bottom Wednesday go to West Brom tomorrow evening looking for a first win in 10 Championship outings after our shocking start to the season.
With the club in disarray both on and off the pitch and the disconnect between fans and chairman Dejphon Chansiri at an all-time low, the spotlight will be back on ‘under-pressure’ manager Xisco Munoz as he strives to turn around a run of awful results and performances that see us already six points adrift of safety after just nine games played and the only club in the division without a victory.
Wednesday supporters will be hoping both Barry Bannan and Josh Windass are fit to return from injury after missing Friday night’s dreadful 3-0 home defeat to Sunderland.
There are also reports that Munoz will be considering the introduction of other members of last season’s promotion-winning squad into the starting line-up at the Hawthorns. Will Vaulks, Dominic Iorfa and Michael Smith were all unused subs against Sunderland, Cameron Dawson could replace Devis Vasquez after a couple of shaky games from the keeper and Liam Palmer came on as a late sub on Friday night.
After West Brom comes the return of Darren Moore to Hillsborough when he brings his Huddersfield side to S6 on Saturday. That is followed by the second international break of the season and, if we are still searching for a first Championship win at that stage, then chairman Dejphon Chansiri will surely have to replace Munoz.
West Brom go into tomorrow evening’s clash on 13 points from nine games, three points adrift of the play-offs, also having gone to previously unbeaten Preston at the weekend and returning home with a
4-0 success.
