‘We will fight to the end’ says Rohl

Danny Rohl was left clearly disappointed after Wednesday were held to a 1-1 draw in today’s ‘six-pointer’ with relegation rivals Stoke … but said the Owls will fight to the end in our bid to stay in the Championship.

The manager reflected on our missed chances after a match which could have seen us in total control after just 10 minutes, saying: “We feel it, I think everyone does today.

“We were the better team, we dominated the game, created a lot of chances. We take a well-deserved lead, they had just two shots on goal, they score from one of them and it ends up 1-1.

“It feels a little bit hard today but this is our job and we need to believe until the end.”

Looking towards next Sunday’s match at Blackburn, who sit five points ahead of us, Rohl said: “We now have a big week ahead, I will pick up my players and we will be ready for the fight when we go to Blackburn with 7,000 of our massive fans behind us, which is unbelievable.

“With everyone else playing before us, we will know what we have to do so let’s see. We can take this atmosphere with us, it was fantastic today, from the players to the stands and from the stands to the players.

“One thing is clear, we will not give up this fight. Of course, I expect this to go to the last day and we will give everything to make sure we have the chance.

“We can still take nine points. We are just one point behind Birmingham in 21st place, that is nothing and means we can do it. The final table is the important one.”
