Steve Bruce hailed the 2-0 win over Brentford as our best 90-minute performance since he took over the managerial reins six games ago.
After a largely dominant display, Bruce said: “It was certainly the best performance since I’ve been at the club. From the first whistle to the last, I thought we were worthy winners.
“Some of the stuff we played and the way we worked was terrific. I can’t fault them for their effort and endeavour. They’re working extremely hard and I can’t ask for more.
“We could have a really good end to the season and we’ve got a huge game, the Sheffield derby, to look forward to next Monday.”
He added: “The players showed terrific energy levels, they pressed high and Brentford couldn’t play their passing game. We know they like to play out from the back so we didn’t want them to settle and it worked well.
“That allowed us to take control of the game and we got the goals through big Fletch that we deserved.
“I don’t want to be greedy because I’ll take a 2-0 but I think on another day we could have had more.”
