We must take our chances – Carlos

Carlos Carvalhal reflected on missed chances after our 2-1 defeat at Reading.

We remain in sixth place despite the reverse but Carvalhal said: “There is a saying ‘if you don’t kill, you can die’. And that’s what happened today.

“We had a clear chance in the second half for Lucas Joao, probably the best clear chance of the game, but we didn’t shoot the goal.”

We were enjoying our best spell of the game after half time when Joao fired wide after creating a great opening and, shortly afterwards, Reading took a lucky lead with a deflected effort from Roy Beerens on 57 minutes.

The home side then took a firmer grip on the game with 15 minutes left with a second goal from Beerens.

However, Wednesday rallied again late on, Stephen Fletcher pulling one goal back with a header in injury time and then coming within inches of an equaliser when he was foiled by keeper Ali Al-Habsi.
