Henrik Pedersen felt his Wednesday side gave a good account of themselves today despite a 1-0 home defeat to play-off chasing Wrexham.

Pedersen said: “It’s been a difficult week with it being the last week of the transfer window and some players maybe going or not.

“But training was great yesterday with great, great energy and I felt the players brought that on, to the pitch today.

“We had a good chance early on after that it was an even game and our goalkeeper did not have a save to make in the first half.

“But Wrexham are a strong side, they are fighting for the play-offs, and they took the chance when it came their way, again this is the difference.

“I think overall we gave a good version of ourselves, we were a little more direct and we created some chances today.

“Near the end, their goalkeeper made a really good save from Bailey, from the corner Jamal has a shot cleared off the line and we were unlucky.

“This was a step in the right direction and something that we must continue.”
