Danny Rohl was in upbeat mood despite having seen Wednesday held by lowly Luton at Hillsborough this afternoon.
Victory would have taken us level with sixth-placed West Brom but Rohl said: “There are 16 matchdays to go. We will give it everything in a positive way.
“We tried everything to win this game today, we had 17 shots but Luton defended well and we could not get the second goal.
“I believe we should have won this game but we take one point, it is progress and we are now two points away from the top six.”
He continued: “The second half was a good reaction from the team and the two substitutions at half time helped us. The second-half rhythm was much better.”
Speaking about the transfer window signings of Stuart Armstrong and Ibrahim Cissoko, Rohl said: They are two very good signings in recent days. I have had good communication with the chairman and big credit to him as he supported me well.”
He added that there could possibly be more signings before the window closes.
