New signing Andre Green believes Wednesday will be the perfect fit for him as the young winger looks to kickstart his career at S6.
As expected, 22-year-old Green signed for Wednesday today after being released by Aston Villa last summer and he told our club website after agreeing the deal: “This is the perfect place for me to settle into and make a name for myself.
“I am at the right age to do something special. I have my targets and I want to accomplish them with Wednesday.
“This is the new start I wanted at the perfect club, it means the world to me to say to my family ‘here it is, this is it, Wednesday is my new home’. That is what this move means to me.”
Green’s debut for Villa came in the Premier League in 2016 and he made 38 league appearances for them in the following four seasons, after Villa’s relegation to the Championship and then promotion back to the top flight for the 2019-20 campaign. He also had loan spells at Portsmouth, Preston and Charlton.
“It’s been a difficult time for me because football is all I’ve known but I wasn’t going to go anywhere where it didn’t feel right and this club just does.
“When I look at the table now it looks upside down. Sheffield Wednesday do not belong down there, we all know what has happened but now we need to get out of trouble and next season challenge around the play-off area.”
Green, who is our first signing of the January transfer window, will wear shirt number 16.
