A cracker from Jermaine Johnson, Miguel Llera smashng home a last-minute winner and Wednesday retaining second spot in the Championship … it’s very happy days at the moment at S6 after victory over Millwall on Saturday.
Johnson’s 25-yard screamer was just reward for our dominance in the first half-hour as Wednesday showed pace, aggression and excellent teamwork … before Millwall twice exposed defensive uncertainty in the last 15 minutes of the first-half to lead at the break.
However, the Owls again showed the want and desire to claw their way back into a game, Llera bringng us level from close range with just over 20 minutes left and then the same player sending most of the near 25,000 crowd wild when he lashed home from six yards in the 90th minute.
New boy Rodri showed excellent control and awareness, JJ continues to enjoy a real revival and Michail Antonio began to discover last season’s form during the second half. And the introduction of Chris O’Grady just before the hour for an out-of-form Gary Madine arguably altered the direction of the game, the sub’s powerful front running causing panic amongst the Millwall defence and providing the inspiration for a late and thrilling revival.
And after seeing Hillsborough bouncing once again, Dave Jones paid tribute to the supporters, saying: ““These are exciting times and I am so pleased for the fans because they are pleased at what’s happening at their club.
“They’ve had a lot of pain and a lot of hurt so they deserve the good times when they arrive.”
