‘So many positives to talk about today’

Danny Rohl was rightly full of praise for his 10-man Wednesday side after they showed the stomach for a fight, along with energy, commitment and belief, as we ran out worthy winners over Stoke this afternoon.

Just 24 hours after confirming he was staying at Hillsborough, Rohl saw us push past the 30-point mark before the halfway stage of the season, and said afterwards: “There are many positive things to talk about today. We showed a lot of resilience, strong mentality, composure and we were clinical in scoring the goals.

“For James Beadle, it was a fantastic penalty save as well. I have seen a lot of improvements in his game since the last international break and that is the message to all my players, to keep getting better and better.

“First half I felt we controlled the game but then the reaction from the team after the red card was great.

“I said in my press conference before the game that teams can try and make it difficult for us coming to Hillsborough, they can come for a point, and it is up to us to find the way through.

“We did that today, we took the game to Stoke despite going down to 10 men, and we got what we deserved in a very good atmosphere, particularly in the second half.”

The manager also had no complaints about Di’Shon Bernard’s dismissal for two yellow cards, meaning he will sit out the next two games following his red card at Luton earlier in the season.

He  added: “It is a blow to lose Dish for two games now in this busy period of games but he will learn from this.”
