Darren Moore has the right kind of selection decisions to make ahead of tomorrow’s Hillsborough clash with division one joint leaders, Wycombe Wanderers.
The Owls boss has to decide whether to start with Josh Windass up front, the striker returning from long-term injury to get his first competitive action of the season as a second-half sub against MK Dons in midweek, then providing an assist for our first goal and firing home the winner deep into added time.
Massimo Luongo could also start in midfield, coming on alongside Windass with 35 minutes remaining against MK Dons and playing an influential midfield role as we fought back to win 2-1.
Added to this, Moore may well recall Callum Paterson to the squad, the manager leaving him out for the MK Dons match as he was on four bookings and the midweek game was the cut-off point for those yellow cards.
One other decision for the manager is whether he finds a place in the squad for winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing after his recent arrival at S6.
We go into the game in fifth place after nine matches without defeat and are five points behind joint leaders, Rotherham and Wycombe.
Boss Moore said today: “We’re not at the halfway mark yet and there’s still so much I want to see from the team. It’s a continuous improvement.
”There’s a demand at the club to be upping the stakes and improving all the time. I am constantly asking questions of the players and I want them to ask questions of themselves and their team mates.
“Be the best you can be and wear the badge of Sheffield Wednesday with pride.”
