Danny Rohl revealed in the aftermath of Wednesday’s win at Swansea that key defender Di’Shon Bernard will be sidelined for the rest of the season.
Bernard, who suffered a serious knee injury at West Brom on Saturday, will be having surgery today (Thursday) and Rohl says he is likely to be out for six months.
The manager said: “It’s a setback for him and for us as a group but we carry on. We will help him as a group as well.”
Rohl said it is still difficult to say how long injured skipper Barry Bannan will be missing for, adding: “To have two key players out is hard to take but we still have the group and it’s an opportunity for some players to step up as well.
“We carry on as a group, we try, we fight and we stay together.”
On the 1-0 victory at Swansea, Rohl said: “I felt we fully deserved the win. We restricted them to just four shots, it was a very good team performance and a clean sheet.”
