Rohl reflects on win … the performance … and Pato’s story

Today’s hard-earned win at QPR brought fulsome praise from Danny Rohl … and special words from the manager for Callum Paterson.

After watching Wednesday outplay one of the Championship’s form teams on their own patch in a 2-0 victory, Rohl said: “It was a tough game today. I demanded one more push for this week from my team, it’s not easy to take something from here but a big credit to my players.

“Today we were very focussed, very organised and showed excellent concentration.

“We came more into the game step-by-step and began to control more. In the second half we scored in the right moments and got the clean sheet, which is also important.

“Now, we will recover after a tough week, will take the positive feeling and go again.”

Reflecting on the progress made this season, Rohl added: “We have 41 points, nine more and we will have achieved our first small goal of reaching 50 points. Then we can look ahead further.”

And on Pato, after his goalscoring return to the starting line-up, Rohl said: “Pato scored and that’s a fantastic story today.

“I had a feeling it was the right game for him. I think it is now nearly one year ago since he was in the starting eleven in the league – it’s a great story.

“Now let’s take the positive things from this game, stay together, make small steps and enjoy the moment.”
