Midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah will miss Saturday’s trip to Millwall.
Summer arrival Chalobah was ruled out through injury for the beginning of the season but started his first competitive game for the Owls in our Carabao Cup win at Grimsby on Tuesday evening, before being withdrawn in the 63rd minute.
However, Danny Rohl revealed at today’s press conference that Chalobah picked up a calf injury at Blundell Park and is likely to be ruled out for around a fortnight.
Rohl said “He has a little problem with his calf. I did not sub him because of injury but I got a message after the game that he had a problem.
“He had a scan, we got the result and this is football. He wants to help the team but I told him yesterday his time will come in this season and for this we will do everything we can to help him.”
Rohl said that Dominic Iorfa has a minor problem and is also a doubt for the trip to the New Den.
Talking of facing Millwall and the vociferous support from the home fans, the Owls boss commented: “Millwall create a lot of energy the way they play their football.
“This is what we have to understand and stop and we need to bring our own style of football to the game.”
New loan signing Shea Charles has already impressed Rohl since joining this week. but on a possible debut at Millwall, the Owls boss said: “His last game was a little bit far away and we will make a decision after training tomorrow.
“That decision will not be on what is helpful for the short term but for the long term.”
Before Saturday’s game, Rohl also has the fast approaching closure of the summer transfer window at 11pm tomorrow night to consider.
However, after his early captures in the close season and 11 summer arrivals in all at S6, Rohl said: “To do something further in the transfer market at this late stage it would have to really make sense.”
