Carlos Carvalhal felt Wednesday deserved to win the game against Brighton on our second-half display but was also angered at the lack of discipline that saw both Stephen Fletcher and Sam Hutchinson sent off in the closing minutes as we crashed to a 2-1 defeat.
After seeing the Owls beaten by an Anthony Knockaert effort five minutes from time, Carvalhal said: “We must win this game, especially the way we played in the second half, and we tried everything to win.”
The head coach was pleased with the way Wednesday pressed forward and created chances in the second half but, referring to the red cards for Fletcher for a ‘headbutt’ and Hutchinson for a typically rash challenge in the closing minutes, he added: “Things we can control, and must control, made us lose the game – this is not acceptable.
“We lose two players and cannot allow this to happen in future. We must talk inside about this.”
