Adam Reach will miss Wednesday’s last two matches of the season due to his on-going knee injury while Kieran Lee could play a part at Preston on Saturday.
Reach picked up the problem at Leeds and, although he returned to the starting line-up against Bristol City on Monday, Steve Bruce has confirmed it is still troubling the player and Reach will be ruled out for the trip to Preston and then the final game of the season at home to QPR.
Sam Hutchinson is also likely to sit out the final matches with his hamstring injury while Achraf Lazaar is doubtful for Preston after calling in sick on Friday.
However, Keiren Westwood could return after his knee injury and Bruce says that Kieran Lee might be involved at Preston after his lengthy lay-off, the midfielder playing his last competitive first team game in December 2017.
While we go into the Preston match with our play-off hopes all but gone, Bruce will be looking for another three points to keep up the remarkable upsurge in form since he took charge at the end of January.
