Sam Hutchinson is set to return to the Wednesday starting line-up on Saturday after a two-month injury lay-off.
The midfielder has resumed full training following his latest knee problem, which required surgery, and Carlos Carvalhal says Hutchinson will start against Middlesbrough at Hillsborough.
However, keeper Keiren Westwood is ruled out again with a groin injury while Barry Bannan is also doubtful with the groin problem that kept him on the sidelines against Wolves last week.
Joe Wildsmith will continue to deputise for Westwood while young keeper Cameron Dawson has been recalled from his loan spell at Chesterfield and will take his place on the bench as sub keeper.
