Yan Valery’s Tunisia bowed out of the African Cup of Nations tournament on Saturday when they went down 3-2 to Mali in a penalty shootout after the teams had finished at 1-1 after extra time.
Valery played 111 minutes before being substituted in extra time of the ‘last 16’ tie that had finished in dramatic fashion in normal time and ended in Tunisia’s eventual exit on penalties.
Tunisia had taken the lead on 88 minutes, Mali having been reduced to 10 men following a sending off after just 26 minutes.
However, Mali equalised six minutes into added time through a penalty to force extra time and then went on to clinch a place in the quarter finals via the spot kicks shootout.
