Henrik Pedersen spoke of Wednesday’s “big hunger and top mentality” after his side’s seven-goal demolition of Bromley at Hillsborough yesterday.

Only two late Bromley goals disappointed the Owls boss on a day when, despite the poor level of the opposition, we turned in an all-round high level and high tempo performance which the visitors could not cope with.

The writing was on the wall very early on with Louie Barry and Mason Burstow foiled by keeper Shamal George before Callum Slattery put us ahead on seven minutes.

Burstow doubled the lead on 31 minutes and it was 3-0 just before half time through Jamal Lowe as we totally overran Bromley.

If there was any doubt about the result at that stage it was all but confirmed within five minutes of the restart when Barry netted twice in front of the Kop.

With Wednesday in cruise control and spurred on by a 30,000 crowd, it was no surprise when Lowe and Gabriel Otegbayo added to the visitors’ misery to make it 7-0 with nine minutes remaining.

We then got sloppy at the back and allowed Bromley to bring the score back to 7-2, the first from the penalty spot and an Otegbayo header into his own net.

Pedersen admitted he was angry with how we allowed Bromley to score those two late goals but, the despite the late double disappointment, he was still rightly upbeat with the overall display, saying: “I enjoyed a lot the beginning of the game, how we put the discipline and the intensity in all the basic things to win a battle like this today.

“We were strong in the duels, we were strong in the second ball, we were strong in the fight in the second ball, and we were strong when we came on the ball after the second ball.
“We knew there would be a lot of long balls, but how we handled this situation with so much discipline, with so much power, to take the strength out of them was excellent.”
The comprehensive win over Bromley takes us to Wycombe on Tuesday evening with six points from our opening three League One matches.
Harry Gray will again miss out as he continues to follow the injury protocol after his facial injury sustained against Wolves.
Max Lowe could also be sidelined because of the hamstring problem that kept him out on Saturday while Barry Bannan and Ricardo Santos were both subbed against Bromley after taking knocks.
