Owls winning run comes to an end

After two wins on the bounce, the Owls failed to continue their run of form losing 2-1 despite a spirited second half display at Hillsborough against Blackburn Rovers.

Wednesday started brightly, but it was Blackburn who took the lead through Jordan Rhodes (15mins) and their lead doubled 10mins later with defender Grant Hendley finding the back of the net.

And the 1st half didn’t get any better for the home side as Jose Semedo was forced off the pitch with what looked like a recurrence of his toe injury.

However it was Semedo’s replacement Chris Maguire who gave the Owls hope in the 2nd half firing home after a scramble in the Blackburn penalty area.

The rest of the 2nd half saw Wednesday continue to pressure the visitors goalmouth, creating many half chances, but without really testing the Blackburn goalkeeper at any time.
