Carlos Carvalhal has revealed that Wednesday rejected approaches for Keiren Westwood and Tom Lees at the start of the season.
The head coach confirmed that chairman Delphon Chansiri had turned down both ‘bids’ but added that if the right offers came in for players at the end of the season then the club might think differently.
Carvalhal explained: “We are protecting the players because we want a good squad.”
He added: “If you ask me at the end of the season if the chairman will do business with someone then probably he will – this is normal in football and we will be happy if these kind of things happen.
“One or two players is not all the squad. This is normal in football and I hope this can happen as it will be good for Sheffield Wednesday if we do good business in the future.”
However, Carvalhal said he did not believe it would be good to allow such movement in the near future, saying: “At this moment I don’t believe so. The priority now is to create a team and we are in that process, so the timing is not right for this. But in the future it will happen for sure, it is natural.”
