Owls sign striker on loan minutes before window closes

Danny Rohl boosted his attacking options tonight with the transfer deadline day loan signing of Ian Poveda from Leeds.

Poveda joins us for the rest of the season and could be in the squad for Saturday’s big relegation clash at fellow strugglers Huddersfield.

The 23-year-old came through the youth ranks at Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, Brentford and Manchester City before joining Leeds in 2020 under Marcelo Bielsa. He has made 25 appearances for our Yorkshire rivals but had season-long loan spells with Blackburn and Blackpool in 2021-22 and 2022-23 respectively.

London-born Poveda, who can play as an attacking midfielder or winger, has represented England at youth levels from under-16 to under-20. He has Colombian parents and was called up to the Colombia national team for the first time in December 2023.
