Wednesday’s young pair of Bailey Cadamarteri and Joey Phuthi were both unused subs when on international duty today.
Cadamarteri stayed on the bench as the England under-20s drew 2-2 with the Republic of Ireland’s under-21s in a friendly in Croatia, the Irish levelling in the closing minutes.
Phuthi was in the Zimbabwe squad that went down 3-1 to South Africa in their World Cup 2026 qualifier but, like Cadamarteri, failed to get on the pitch.
One Wednesday player who has been in recent international action was defender Di’Shon Bernard, playing the first half of Jamaica’s 3-2 win in their World Cup qualifier away to Dominica on Sunday.
Bernard was replaced at half time by former Owls loanee Michael Hector with Jamaica already 2-0 ahead and they made it 3-0 before Dominica scored twice late on to cause a scare for the Reggae Boyz.
