Owls looking for ‘bounce back’ in Leeds derby

Wednesday will be aiming to bounce back to form when we face Leeds in a Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough tonight.

After our opening day 4-0 Championship success over Plymouth and Carabao Cup progress at Hull, we then found ourselves on the end of a four-goal defeat at Sunderland on Sunday and Danny Rohl is looking for a return to winning ways against a Leeds side searching for their first victory of the season, following three winless matches to date.

The Owls boss said: “Leeds are a big team, it’s a derby and there will be a special atmosphere on a Friday night. Their start has not been perfect but they have had chances.

“It will be a proper fight and that is what I want to see from my team. We need to be committed in the 90-plus minutes to take something.”

One player who will not be in the squad to face Leeds is defender Bambo Diaby after he signed for Spanish Segunda Division side Elche on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee on Thursday.

Diaby, 26, joined us last summer and made 36 appearances for the Owls last season.

* The matchday programme for this evening’s game will include a tribute from the London Owls to our club member, Gillian Jenkins, who sadly passed away in April.
