Sheffield Wednesday failed to make it an all Sheffield FA Cup quarter final after losing 2-1 at Hillsborough to a hungry Charlton side.
In the first half Charlton had much of the possession and deservedly took the lead through Harriot capitalising on the Owls defence failure to clear their lines. Wednesday slowly came into the game as the half went on but were imited to long distance attempts.
However the home side came out with more intent during the second half and soon levelled the scoreline after Leon Best pounced on a lose ball and fired into the top corner of the net. The bumper 24k Hillsborough crowd got behind the Owls however they could only hold onto the lead for 8 minutes as Church was allowed to run into the penalty area unmarked and put the ball away from a free kick.
Wednesday then had a number of chances to equalise once more however they found Charlton goalkeeper Hamer in fine form as he pulled off a number of great reaction saves. One noticeably after a Nuhui header which hit the inside of the post and rolled along the goal line and another in the dying minutes when he reacted quickly midsave to a deflected Maguire effort.
