No win in five as Owls go down again

Wednesday made it five league games without a win after taking the lead at Ipswich tonight.

Kieran Lee fired us in front after 20 minutes and we might have been further ahead before half-time but Stevie May dragged his shot wide.

However, it was a different story after the break with sloppy defending costing us two goals inside the opening 17 minutes of the second half.

Ex-Owl loanee Daryl Murphy had proved a real threat in the first half and he headed the home side level seven minutes after the restart, losing his marker after Wednesday had failed to clear on our right-hand side.

Fifteen minutes later, Ipswich were in front when we were again caught out on our right and this time Luke Chambers was allowed to steal in on the resulting cross to power home a header past Keiren Westwood.

We offered very little threat during the sceond half, which saw a first appearance for Filipe Melo as substitute and a return for long-term injury victim Lewis Buxton.

Wednesday stay in 10th place in the table but this latest defeat now leaves us only nine points off the relegation places and a distant 13 points adrift of the play-offs.
