New loan pair available for ‘six-pointer’ as Rohl gives rallying call

Deadline day loan signings Ian Poveda and Kristian Pedersen are both available to join the Wednesday squad for tomorrow’s ‘six-pointer’ relegation clash at Huddersfield.

Attacker Poveda and defender Pedersen were late evening signings just before the January transfer window closed last night and could find themselves involved in a match which looks to be just about a ‘must-win’ for Wednesday.

The midweek point at home to Watford means we are still one off the bottom of the Championship table, two points behind QPR and trailing tomorrow’s opponents, Huddersfield, by five points.

Danny Rohl said today that Josh Windass will have a late fitness test, having only played the first 45 minutes in midweek, while loanee striker Ashley Fletcher comes back into contention after not being eligible to face parent club Watford.

With the transfer window now closed, the Owls boss also issued a rallying call to players and fans alike as the focus for the rest of the season is now firmly on Championship survival, saying: “We have a big game coming up and now it is about going forward which is important.

“We tried everything and we worked hard, bringing players in is not always easy so now we have it, our biggest goal now is to stay in the league, get out of the relegation zone.

“Everybody is clear on who is part of our team now. It has also not been easy for the players but from my side, we have our group and for the next three months we will do everything possible for our goals.

“We have taken good results and shown we can do it and I have a big belief in this group. We will take all this energy and move forward. It is a big challenge but we must all do it together.”

* Our home game with Plymouth will now be live on Sky Sports, with the fixture moved from March 6 to March 5, kick off 7.45pm.
