Moore’s post-match verdict on another victory

Darren Moore spoke of the determination of his Wednesday side after they saw off a late Shrewsbury rally to take all three points at Hillsborough.

Moore said: “What pleased me the most was the doggedness of the team, they threw their bodies at everything when they had to when Shrewsbury came out.

“There were blocks, headers, tackles and a determination to keep the ball out of the net. That’s a sign of the progress we have made as a team.

He added: “Credit to the players today because Shrewsbury played a low block and made it difficult for us. But we plugged away and got the goal from the set piece and I’m pleased for Macca because he was outstanding today.

“Maybe we could have scored more but the most important thing is the win.”

Josh Windass limped off in the second half and Moore said he will be assessed early next week, adding: “We think it could be a groin injury but we don’t know if it’s a knock or a pull at this moment in time.”
