Moore: We’re all on this journey together

Darren Moore felt Wednesday deserved all three points and gave a rallying call after today’s disappointing 1-1 home draw with Lincoln stretched our winless run to five games.

The post-match stats showed we had 21 efforts but only five on target and Moore commented: “The boys gave everything and I’ve just told them to keep their heads up. We deserved to win the game but Lincoln are a resolute team, they dig in deep and they have drawn a lot of their games.

“They had clearances off the line, the goalkeeper pulling off saves, us not getting enough contact on the ball at times – these were all reasons for us not getting three points.

“On another day we could have scored two or three.

“We almost scored with the last kick of the match but it wasn’t to be so we dust ourselves down and move on to the two games over Easter.

“There is a lot of football to be played, there will be twists, there will be turns, the players will be in for recovery tomorrow, then we prepare for Oxford on Friday.”

Reflecting on our recent alarming dip in form and results, Moore said: “Right now is not the time to be having the wobbles. We’re top of the league now and let’s remember that and keep that feeling.

“We’ve got to continue to look up because if all get in a negative mindset that’s not going to help anybody. We’re all Sheffield Wednesday, we’re all together and we’re all on this journey together.

“What I want everyone to see is that there was an endeavour from us to win the game today. I thought you saw, from the onus we put on from the start, was a fully committed team performance. We’ve had a long run of games but we’ll recharge now for the Easter weekend.”
