Moore: We need to dust ourselves down and go again

Darren Moore said Wednesday need to dust ourselves down and go again after seeing the team’s 23-match unbeaten run ended at Oakwell.

Speaking after the 4-2 defeat to Barnsley, Moore reflected on several missed chances for the Owls, saying: “The game was decided on chances. We did incredibly well to get back into the game at 2-2. The momentum was then with us to go on and win the game and before their third goal we thought we had two or three clear chances to take the lead.

“Then it was the misjudgement of a cross, the ball ricochet off our two defenders and presented their striker with a golden opportunity.

“After that, we threw caution to the wind and got done with a breakaway goal right at the end.

“We’re disappointed, it brings our tremendous run of games to an end but I’ve said to the boys we’ve got to dust ourselves down. I’m massively proud of them in terms of the momentum they’ve set and we’ve just got to get back on it and go again at the weekend.

“The first two goals we conceded were self- inflicted and a bitter blow. However, we always felt we had enough about us to get back in the game and it was a crucial moment getting back to 2-1.

“Then we get back to 2-2 and their third goal goal came against the run of play. We had enough chances to come away from the game with something but now we need to move on to Sunday.

“There is so much football to be played and we will focus on the next game as we have done all season.”
