Wednesday will field a much-changed line-up for tomorrow evening’s Papa John’s Trophy group game at home to Harrogate Town.
Both sides have already qualified from their section for the last 32 and the match is the first-ever competitive clash between the two clubs.
With Bailey Peacock-Farrell now on international duty with Northern Ireland, Joe Wildsmith is expected to step up from the bench against Harrogate – and then for the home division one clash with Gillingham on Saturday – while Darren Moore will no doubt rest some of our first-teamers, particularly given the number of games we are facing this month.
The young trio of Josh Render, Ciaran Brennan and Liam Waldock look set to be in tomorrow night’s squad after rejoining us from their loan spells and long-term injury absentees Massimo Luongo and George Byers, on the bench against Plymouth on Sunday, could both get some action.
The match kicks off at 7pm against a Harrogate side managed by Simon Weaver, who was an apprentice with Wednesday from 1996, before being released two years later.
