Darren Moore was encouraged by loan signing Olamide Shodipo’s performance on his debut at Alfreton tonight.
Shodipo, who has joined us on a year-long loan from QPR, played the first 45 minutes of our 1-0 warm-up victory and Moore said afterwards: “It looked as the half was going on that he was really warming up and you could see what he was about. He can be pleased with his performance, he was dangerous and creative.
“You could see what he’s going to bring to us – he’ll create, he’ll score, and he gives opposition defenders something to worry about in terms of the threat that he carries, which is what we want.”
Moore added that Andre Green, who scored the only goal at Alfreton, has the chance to show his full potential as he prepares for a full season at S6.
Winger Green, who is 23 later this month, joined us in January after being released by Aston Villa last summer and Moore said: “This is his moment to come and shine. He probably should have scored an earlier effort but made sure with the second. He deserved his goal tonight.
“It was a really good workout for us and, apart from Fizz (Dele-Bashiru), everyone came through unscathed. We’ll assess him tomorrow.
“But all in all it was a good workout. It’s all about putting that volume of work in now and tonight was spot on in terms of what we wanted.”
