Darren Moore was left reflecting on some questionable defending after Wednesday were held to a 3-3 draw in this afternoon’s division one opener with Portsmouth.
After being in total control for the first 30 minutes, we conceded three headed goals in 15 second-half minutes, leaving Moore to comment: “We’ve got to cut those goals out. It’s where we have to be better in terms of it being harder for those chances to come against us. In real time, I felt they were avoidable but I will look back and analyse them.”
Having seen us then come back to earn a late point, Moore added: “I was pleased with the character of the players. There was fight in us to get back in it.”
And summing up the performance of two-goal Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, the Owls boss said: “It was an exceptional performance from him. His work in tight areas was excellent. His work off the ball was really good and he will be really pleased with his performance.”
The midfielder will be assessed on Monday after being subbed in added time with a thigh injury while Dennis Adeniran could be in contention for a return to the squad for next weekend’s trip to MK Dons after missing the Portsmouth game with a swollen knee.
