Garry Monk dedicated Friday night’s FA Cup win at QPR to the fans – and all connected with the club – following Saturday’s shambolic 5-0 home defeat to Blackburn.
Speaking after the 2-1 victory against Rangers, Monk said: “That is 100 per cent for the club. We owed everyone a performance after last week and tonight we have put some pride back in the shirt.
“And for those fans here tonight, I’m delighted. To bring 3,000 down here on a Friday night with no trains back to Sheffield … it’s incredible.
“For all those fans and for everyone who was at Hillsborough last week, we owed you a performance and the players have delivered.
“I thought we deserved the win, we controlled most of the game and I’m pleased for everyone right now.
“It was a tough game again but it was a good performance from ourselves. There was a bit of drama at the end but I’m very pleased to get into the fifth round.”
He added: “I said before that actions speak a lot louder than words and tonight was a big proof of action. That performance and that win goes a little way to making amends for last week.
“The challenge now is to continue that into the league game on Tuesday.”
