Garry Monk was left to reflect on another late lapse in concentration which cost Wednesday victory over Swansea at Hillsborough on Saturday.
Having taken a 2-1 lead through Morgan Fox in the 92nd minute, we then conceded a Swans equaliser two minutes later … an all too familiar lapse after throwing away a late lead to lose at Blackburn just seven days earlier.
Monk, referring to the Swansea leveller just after we looked to have grabbed all three points, said: “I’ve been there myself, you’re caught in a wave of emotion and it’s so easy to lose even that little bit of concentration.
“We didn’t concentrate from a set piece last week and we didn’t do it this week.
“You have to be focused, you have to stick to your tasks and we should be sat here with six points from two games instead of one.
“The effort and commitment of the players today was exceptional and it’s frustrating we didn’t get the win we deserved.
“But we will learn, we will get better. It’s a matter of continuing the hard work and we will come back stronger.”
