Tom Lees could return to the starting line-up for Saturday’s lunchtime trip to Rotherham.
Lees has sat out the last two games with a shin injury and Steve Bruce waits to see if the skipper is fully fit to step back into the action.
And, if Lees is given the all-clear, Bruce then has to decide whether to put him straight back in the starting line-up or to stick with Jordan Thorniley, who has deputised admirably in Lees’ absence.
Fernando Forestieri may be considered for a starting place after dropping to the bench at Millwall while our three recent acquisitions – permanent signing Dominic Iorfa and Newcastle loaneesĀ Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar – will all be in the squad at the New York Stadium.
